Festival of Gardens
In response to the theme of ‘Play in the Garden’ for the 2006 International Garden Festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire, France, the firm proposed a game of word search superimposed over an enclosed perennial garden. Ten hidden words were French onomatopoeias related to the sounds one might hear in the garden. Garden elements such as the pond, footbridge, perennial bands and knoll added a layer of complexity to the game by acting as visual obstacles.
The letters are proposed to be made of bright orange acrylic, a half meter in size. Some of them lie flat in gravel paving, while others float in a pond, hover over perennial beds, or climb up and over a grassy knoll. Here, one must physically experience the entire garden to successfully complete the game.
