Couch St. Pedestrian Way

Navigating steep terrain, a series of small plazas provide outdoor lunch spots, meeting areas, and places for people watching at the heart of the Burnside Bridgehead Redevelopment Area. Together these plazas form a new main entry for a renovated office building and connect a busy pedestrian street to the lower parking lot.

Ramps lined by terraced bands of planting connect plazas and offer year-round seasonal interest. Stormwater is directed through rills along the ramps at the base of each planting band, where it exits as a linear fountain and continues to further treatment through a series of terraced stormwater gardens.
