Kows for Kids
Kows for Kids on Parade was a city-wide event that helped raise $2 million for homeless youth services. Lango Hansen participated by designing one of a hundred fiberglass cows that were displayed throughout Portland in the spring of 2002 then later auctioned.
Our entry, ‘Illumoonata’, was painted a metallic copper color and covered with thousands of colorful plexiglass pegs from the children’s toy, Lite Brite. When seen by day, the cow appeared as a gleaming copper figure, but at night, when illuminated from within, the cow was a multi-colored figure of light.
