PCC Willow Creek
Three buoy tubes are the centerpieces of this plaza at Portland Community College’s new academic building at the Willow Creek campus. Each buoy tube slips through an opening in the plaza to an underground cistern that is fed by runoff from the building’s roof. As water fills the cistern, the tubes slowly rise. Over time, as water is siphoned out of the cistern, the poles recede back into the ground.
In addition to the plaza, other site improvements include pedestrian connections to the adjacent bus and transit station through a series of stormwater planters and stone seating.
